Deactivated Mauser Model 1896 with matching numbers, used in the second Boer War (1899 - 1902), and with "OVS" stamped into the woodwork to indicate it was issued in the Orange Free State. The Boer Mauser was a modified version of the Mauser M1895 rifle and was chambered for 7 x 57 Mauser cartridge. As was common at the time, the user's initials were stenciled into the butt.
Cocks, dry-fires and the bolt can be removed. Supplied with its Birmingham Proof House deactivation certificate. Conditions apply (see T & Cs).
